The North County Transit District (NCTD) in Oceanside, Calif., will add 13 new SLF 200 low-floor buses fueled with compressed natural gas to its 159-bus fleet next month. The 32-foot buses, manufactured by DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses, will supplement existing fixed-route service with plans to incorporate them into NCTD's future light rail service. The SLF 200, recognized for its high performance, maneuverability and passenger-friendly design, features 42-inch-wide front and rear doors and air-operated doors that open inward for increased clearance. The full air-ride suspension kneels as low as nine inches, and the bus has an extra-wide ramp for paratransit needs.
