Cummins Inc. ISM 330 and 280 heavy-duty diesel engines received certification for the 2.5-gram NOx+NMHC standard for urban transit applications to meet 2004 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. The engines, which are EPA-certified in 49 states, are the only current heavy-duty diesel engines compliant with the 2004 EPA urban bus emissions standards using standard fuel without special soot filter exhaust aftertreatment. The ISM engines feature an electronically controlled fuel system with advanced air-handling technology.
