The Transportation Management Systems (TMS) division of Orbital Sciences Corp. received final system acceptance from the Tahoe (Nev.) Regional Planning Agency for the South Shore Coordinated Transit System project. The system is designed to support vehicles operating a variety of applications such as fixed route, flex route, dial-a-ride and deviated route in both California and Nevada. Orbital TMS installed a system that allows transit providers to track and coordinate buses, trolleys and other mass transit vehicles, while also allowing passengers to reserve rides from one of the many dedicated telephones or kiosks placed throughout South Lake Tahoe. The system, named BlueGO, also enables passengers to know exactly when the next vehicle will arrive. BlueGO is operated under contract and in partnership with Area Transit Management Inc.
