The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has cut $20 million worth of funding for Honolulu's bus rapid transit project.
The project will go on, however, using city funds, and officials have said that the funding withdrawal will not seriously affect the first phase of construction.
According to The Hawaii Channel, the FTA had committed $20 million but rescinded its funding because the city failed to follow federal laws and regulations.
The city's managing director said the money can be regained through some congressional maneuvering.
