The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has approved $241.8 billion in spending for the Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (TEA-LU).

The bill authorizes spending for federal surface transportation programs over Fiscal Years 2005-2009. It is expected to be considered by the full House sometime next week.

There are still a few unresolved matters in TEA-LU, including state funding formulas for highway spending and the overall amount of Highway Trust Fund budget authority contained in the bill.

Lawmakers anticipate that these issues will be resolved in an amendment on the House floor next week.
