Bus and subway service in Toronto could be halted Monday, April 11, if the transit union and the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) can't reach a contract agreement by Friday, according to Reuters. TTC is Canada's largest transit system and transports about 1.4 million passengers daily. It employs about 8,400 employees who belong to the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113. The union has been discussing a strike since April 1, but stayed in talks with TTC because some progress has been made. But a union spokesman said the talks have stalled.
