The Northeast Advanced Vehicle Consortium (NAVC) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) have released a report that documents the current state of hybrid bus technology, using the latest hybrid bus data and the views of transit professionals.

The report — "Analysis of Electric Drive Technologies For Transit Applications: Battery-Electric, Hybrid-Electric and Fuel Cells" — explores the benefits of having more hybrid buses in transit and the obstacles to hybrid technology. The report also discusses battery and fuel cell buses.

FTA funded the report, which is available for free at www.fta.dot.gov, and at www.navc.org.
