Cummins Inc. announced Monday afternoon at the APTA Expo that the ISL engine will add cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology and an integrated Cummins particulate filter to meet the EPA emissions standards for 2007.

The new ISL will use EGR for nitrogen oxide reduction and the Cummins filter for particulate matter reduction. It will continue to feature a variable geometry turbocharger produced by Cummins subsidiary, Holset.

In addition, the engine will feature an enhanced common-rail fuel system that delivers higher injection pressures for lower emissions and increased performance and fuel efficiency.
