New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority awarded Siemens VDO Automotive a contract to improve fleet management efficiency and provide commuters with real-time bus information. Per the contract, Siemens will implement its Service Management and Customer Information System, which is designed to improve fleet management efficiency and provide commuters with kiosks that offer near real-time information on bus locations and arrival times. The initial phase of the project includes one depot, 185 buses, six non-revenue vehicles, 15 OnStreet signs, two customer information system kiosks and one customer relations center workstation.
