A judge has fined the New York City transit union $2.5 million for the illegal strike it carried out three days before Christmas. According to a state law, public employees are prohibited from striking. The judge also ruled that the union president, Roger Toussaint, should be jailed for 10 days and fined $1,000 for contempt.
