The Sun Metro Mass Transit Department in El Paso, Texas, has ordered 35 40-LFW CNG buses from North American Bus Industries Inc. (NABI), to replace its 15-year-old fleet of standard-floor diesel buses. The total contract is valued at $14 million, with delivery scheduled for March 2007. NABI’s 40-foot low-floor buses for Sun Metro will feature accommodations for two wheelchair passengers; boarding ramp and a kneeling system compliant with ADA requirements; electronically controlled interior lighting system; two-toned flooring for visually impaired; exterior electronic destination signs on the front, both sides and rear of the bus; interior destination signs; and ergonomically designed driver’s stations.
