Following extensive negotiations with Bombardier and two independent financial reviews of the negotiated price, the staff at Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is recommending the purchase of 234 new subway cars from the company. The recommendation is subject to confirmation from city, provincial and federal governments that appropriate funding will be made available. The total cost of the contract, including provincial and federal taxes, escalation, bonding and options is $674.8 million. Delivery is set to begin in 2009.
