More than 100 public transportation agencies nationwide participated in the 2007 National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 21.

Sponsored by APTA, the public awareness day emphasizes the environmental, economic and political benefits of using public transportation instead of driving in a car.

Transit systems participated in a variety of ways. Some offered free or half-fare rides, gave away prizes, held open houses and contests for grocery store shopping sprees, one-year bus passes or other prizes.
