The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) awarded a $3.6 million contract to Clean Energy Fuels Corp. to design, build and operate a new compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station at its Irvine, Calif., maintenance facility.

The station will initially fuel OCTA’s fleet of 63 contracted fixed route CNG buses with an estimated 500,000 gallons of natural gas annually. OCTA plans to grow its CNG bus fleet.
