The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) has selected HNTB Corp. as the prime on-call firm to perform program management tasks, project development and environment engineering services for proposed transit and transportation projects for the county’s TransNet transportation improvement program.

HNTB has assisted SANDAG in developing project controls for TransNet, a sales tax-funded initiative to enhance regional mobility by joining components of the regional transportation and transit systems since 2005.

In addition, the firm has also performed engineering work on a 20-mile managed lanes facility and may help SANDAG and the California Department of Transportation with two other mobility-enhancing projects. HNTB, one of five consultant teams to win part of the multimillion dollar, five-year contract, will lead 13 subconsultants.

The new contract is expected to take effect in mid-February.
