Doug Roelfs has been named the new GM of Greater Peoria (Ill.) Mass Transit District (CityLink), effective February 1, 2017. Roelfs has served as the assistant GM of operations for CityLink since November 1, 2016, and has been serving as the interim GM since the retirement of Al Stanek, at the end of 2016.

In his new role, Roelfs leads the First Transit Inc. team that manages CityLink’s public transportation services for the greater Peoria area including Peoria, West Peoria, Peoria Heights, East Peoria and Pekin.
 
Roelfs began his career working for the City of Mediapolis, Iowa in the Public Works Department. He advanced to Public Works Supervisor during his career at the City of Mediapolis, which spanned 24 years.
 
Roelfs moved to the public transportation industry in 2006 when he became the Transit Director at Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission in Burlington, Iowa. He also served as the transit manager/public works technician for the City of Burlington from 2009 to 2013.
 
Roelfs joined First Transit Inc. in 2013 and his career there has taken him to several locations. He has served as the GM of CitiBus in Davenport, Iowa; assistant GM of operations for the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority in Berkshire, Mass.; and he has provided assistance for transit agencies in Jackson, Tenn.; Greenfield, Mass. and Denton, Texas.

The GPMTD Board of Trustees will officially vote on Roelfs appointment at the board meeting on Monday, February 13, 2017.
