NEW YORK — The U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) proposed that letter grades rating a bus company's safety record be posted inside the bus, at ticket windows and online where people buy their tickets, reported the TimesUnion.com. He has offered amendments to a transportation bill to be voted on Tuesday that would require annual inspections and the safety rating.

The proposal comes following the shutdown of bus company Double Happiness, which despite numerous safety violations, continued transporting people until it was finally shut down.
