New motorcoach sales reach 318 in Q3

Posted on January 7, 2014

Motorcoach sales hit 318 in the third quarter of 2013, while pre-owned coaches hit 226 units sold, according to the American Bus Association Foundation’s latest report.

Each quarter, the American Bus Association Foundation asks its motorcoach manufacturers about sales data information to help members and others understand the industry trends in motorcoach purchasing.

Starting in 2014, the foundation will pair this dataset with a survey sample from operators that asks them to project future vehicle purchases. The combination of demand and sales data should help the industry more accurately forecast product development and operator demand.

Third quarter sales data from ABC Companies, Motor Coach Industries/Setra, and Prevost/Volvo are included. As additional builders and distributors are added to the data collection, estimates and trending information will be updated.

Through the first three quarters, total sales for new motorcoaches total 1,073 units, with pre-owned sales totaling 768 units.
