U. of Utah unveils bicycle plan

Big public universities are increasingly embracing cycling as a way to minimize the presence of cars, however, the university is on a hill, and the climate features snowy winters and blistering summers.

DCTA adds 18 buses to U. of North Texas routes

Costing $3.6 million altogether, the buses have a life expectancy of 10 years and are able to carry three bikes in comparison to current buses which can fit only two. An increasing number of students are using a combination of bikes and the buses on campus.

U.S. DOT issues $551M RFPs for American-made railcars

For manufacture of approximately 130 new bi-level passenger cars. Comes from a multi-state effort to jointly purchase standardized rail equipment to be used on Amtrak’s intercity routes in California, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Missouri. Funding is being provided by the FRA’s High-Speed and Intercity Passenger Rail Program.

Chicago’s RTA upgrades trip planner

S.F. MTA approves 2-year budget
