TriMet bolsters fare enforcement, revenues

Riders now have an 83% chance of either getting a $175 citation or an exclusion if they don't have a valid fare. A year ago, those odds were 35%. Additionally, the agency has been awarded a federal grant to hire four additional transit police officers, which includes a K-9 unit.

The first six New Flyer hybrids will go into service on Dec. 19 and will replace older diesel buses that are past their useful life. Eight more will be put into service by early 2012. Vehicles will more than double Metro’s hybrid fleet.
