Gov. Charlie Baker recently secured the resignations of the six Patrick administration appointees on the state transportation board and had a "clarifying" conversation with the MBTA’s interim boss Frank DePaola after he went public with concerns about the governor’s plan.

The agency currently offers about 1,500 trips a week on its regional rails. That will increase to about 2,200 in five years, and the provincial government is promising that by the time its electrification program is built out around 2024, there will be 6,000 weekly trains

53 evacuated after bus catches fire

The driver told investigators he heard what sounded like a rear tire's exploding and immediately pulled off to the side of the road. As soon as he stopped, he saw that the back of the bus was on fire. The bus was declared a total loss.
