N.Y. MTA awards Cubic $27M contract

The agency is rolling out the GPS-based system across the remaining three boroughs after last year’s successful launch in Staten Island and the Bronx. Cubic will install the MTA’s Bus Hardware System on approximately 3,800 buses serving Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.

UNC shuttle starts soon without contract

Wilmington Shuttle, a division of Cape Fear Limo, plans to start bus transit service to University of North Carolina, Wilmington students this spring. However, the company has not notified the university of the service and does not have the required permits yet.

The foundation of the $485 million operating budget assumes that the arbitration award for the just-expired contract with the ATU is upheld and TriMet’s offer stands, providing some breathing room and ability to invest in critical infrastructure.
