SORTA unveils five mini-hybrid buses

The new 40-foot buses have an advanced thermal cooling system technology which provides benefits, including fuel economy improvement up to 10%; up to 10% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions; reduction in maintenance costs and increased safety through the elimination of hydraulic fluid leaks.

Will reimburse Oregon, Alabama and South Carolina for fixing or replacing highways, bridges and other roadway structures. Costs associated with detours, debris removal and other immediate measures necessary to restore traffic flow in affected areas are also eligible for reimbursement.

Maine opens $14.7M transportation, maintenance facility

Will provide a place for visitors to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island to park their cars and ride the free Island Explorer shuttle bus service to destinations around the park and island. Twenty-nine clean, propane-powered buses and four gasoline-powered vans will be maintained at the facility.

Will collaborate to introduce a North American medium-duty low-floor bus (or “midi bus”) specifically developed and tested to a 10-year operational life. New Flyer is responsible for sales, marketing, manufacturing and aftermarket support. Alexander Dennis will engineer, test and develop the prototype.
