Real-time bus schedule app gets fed funding

The smartphone app Tiramisu has been in use in Pittsburgh since the summer of 2011 and is available for iPhone and Android phones. Thus far, users have recorded more than 30,000 trips on Port Authority of Allegheny County buses and trains.

Youngstown St. to raise parking fee

The trustees considered making the fee mandatory for all students to force students to park in YSU lots for safety concerns, but the university does not have enough parking spaces to accommodate all the students.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. when a blaze in a building under construction near the West Oakland Station damaged electrical and communications systems on the elevated BART tracks and forced the transit agency to cancel Transbay service just hours before the start of the morning commute.

Bombardier wins BART railcar contract

The contract includes a first option order for 150 cars that BART intends to order later this month and additional options which, if exercised, would bring the total number of cars ordered to 775 and the total value of the order to approximately $1.5 billion.
