The city issued a recommendation of award for 60-foot, articulated, five-door clean diesel buses to New Flyer under a 2016 solicitation.
It will serve the University of New Mexico, regional medical facilities, entertainment, shopping, and recreational destinations.
Benefits of the Quantum rear-facing solution include shorter dwell times at stops; little or no involvement of bus operators; less likelihood of operator injury; and fewer instances of operators being placed in awkward working positions.
ABQ RIDE is looking to model its plan after the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s HealthLine, which is sponsored through a hospital partnership. Construction on the so-called ART system could begin in May 2016 with an in-service date of September 2017.

The ABQ RIDE's UNM bus pass program provides free bus rides for students, staff and faculty. Only a school I.D. is needed, along with the sticker provided by the Transportation Information Center.
