Valley Metro’s ‘Rideshare Week’ reduces trips, pollution

The event, held from Feb. 26 to March 3, saved 213,139 miles from being traveled and more than four tons of pollution from being emitted into the air. Twenty-nine employers competed in the Try 1 in 5 Rideshare Week Employer Challenge as a way to rally the highest percentage of participation among organizations.

Arizona ordered to reinstate transit program

A federal judge ruled that the Arizona Legislature's 2010 move to end the Local Transportation Assistance Fund was illegal because the Legislature does not have the authority to change federal Clean Air Act requirements without federal approval, and the funds are part of Phoenix's federally approved plan to fight air pollution.
