Long Beach Transit to buy BYD all-electric buses

Board of directors voted to award a $12.1 million contract to purchase 10 all-electric buses and charging equipment to BYD Motors Inc. a U.S. subsidiary of BYD Co. Ltd., a Chinese firm. The contract is funded mainly with a federal TIGGER grant.

Proterra shows all-electric bus in D.C.

Production of Proterra's transit bus using lithium-titanate batteries supplied by Altairnano could create over 6,000 green jobs in 21 states. A fleet of 500 buses operating over 12 years could cut emissions of CO2 by 840,000 tons and reduce oil consumption by 82 million gallons, according to the company.
