According to the contract, Alstom and its local joint venture SATEE will provide traction systems equipped with OPTONIX, its latest technology for the Chinese market, for 174 metro cars of Nanjing metro line 4.

The project is part of a framework agreement signed by the company and Spanish railway infrastructure manager Adif last November to carry out research and development projects at Adif's Railway Technology Center in Málaga.

Project development, most of the manufacturing as well as the certification, will be done in Savigliano Alstom’s site in Cuneo. The plant in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan) will be responsible for the design and manufacturing of the traction systems and auxiliary switchers. Onboard signaling systems will be delivered by the Bologna site.

Worth a combined value of approximately $220 million, the contracts will be executed at Alstom’s rolling stock manufacturing facility in Hornell, N.Y. Both projects are scheduled to begin immediately.

Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the company’s complete high-speed and very high-speed train product line, as well as infrastructure, services and signalling.

Slated for completion next fall, it will support the manufacturer’s role in the $1.17 billion contract between a Bombardier-Alstom Consortium and the Société de Transport de Montréal for the manufacture of 468 new metro cars.

The construction of track is scheduled for completion in 2016.

The order for the electric multiple units of the 430 series, from DB Regio AG, totals $648 million.

The trainsets of seven cars each will be based on Alstom's standard New Pendolino platform. In line with the customer's specifications, they will not integrate the tilting system.

The first tramways, which will feature energy savings of 15 percent, due to efficient recovery of energy and lighter weight of the vehicles, are slated to enter service in 2013.
