BNSF to test LNG use in road locomotives

Freight co. has been working with the two principal locomotive manufacturers, GE and EMD, a unit of Caterpillar, to develop the natural gas engine technology that will be used in the pilot.

Texas awarded $50M for rail improvements, HSR corridor

Will jump-start planning for high-speed rail between Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, focusing on the Tower 55 project. The project will alleviate congestion at one of the busiest railroad intersections in the U.S., where ten freight and passenger rail routes converge and carry more than 100 trains per day.

Federal stimulus to fund Seattle track improvements

The $4.6 million grant is part of $131 million in federal stimulus funds for transit projects in the Puget Sound region. Seven miles of existing track and street crossings will be upgraded.
