Sound Transit 'shovel ready' light rail plan approved

The plan gives the agency a green light to immediately move forward with a conceptual engineering study, environmental review process and record of decision on a route not only to S. 272nd Street, which voters approved in the Sound Transit 2 ballot measure in 2008, but all the way to the Federal Way Transit Center.

The current labor contract expired on January 31, with Metro's 676 union bus operators, maintenance and support employees continuing to work under the terms of the old contract at this point. It is SORTA's intent to resume negotiations.
