Utah Transit plan to end free passes may hurt students

The agency is considering eliminating all discounted and free passes in its plan to switch from flat fees to distance-based fares. One-third of University of Utah students and staff use free transit passes.

Northern Calif. college to cut student bus discounts

Santa Rosa Junior College is considering ending a program that gives students about 50 percent off bus passes. Officials say the program benefits about 480 students and costs the school approximately $130,000 a year.

San Diego area transit cuts discount passes for rehab riders

North County Transit District riders enrolled in drug and alcohol treatment programs will now pay $59 instead of $18 for a monthly bus pass. The district had trouble verifying that discount applicants were enrolled in a valid treatment program.
