In 2013, construction of the initial segment of high-speed rail, linking Merced to the San Fernando Valley, will create 100,000 job-years of employment over the next five years, the equivalent of 20,000 full-time jobs annually.

The Anaheim to Los Angeles segment of the California high-speed rail project is one of 11 federally designated high-speed rail corridors in the nation. Environmental work on the 27-mile segment is on track to be completed next year.
