The T had previously planned to start with TRE vehicles due to their significantly lower purchase price and less lead time to procure to meet its 2016 schedule, with a long-range plan to move to DMUs in the future.

Bombardier wins Australian DMU contract

Will provide 19 additional intermediate cars to convert existing two-car train sets to three-car sets and supply seven additional new three-car train sets. This will result in a total fleet of 58 three-car Bombardier VLocity trains.
