Experts predict dire outcome from transportation funding proposal

T4 America, APTA decry proposal to end guaranteed transit funding

The proposal to bar public transit from receiving funds from the federal motor fuels tax is part of a bill coming before the House Ways and Means Committee Feb. 3. The bill sets the revenue levels for the five-year surface transportation bill making its way through the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Transit subsidy may revert from $230 to $120

The rollback could happen by the end of the year because of partisan gridlock. The higher benefit could be extended for one year if a green energy tax bill, drafted by Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee, passes.
