The MTA’s acknowledgment of the existence of the alerter system on the train came as a NYPD officer who was on the train filed a $10 million suit, alleging negligence. Meanwhile, service was resumed on Thursday.

Metro-North rolls out new M-8 cars

In all, 380 new cars will replace a fleet that is well beyond its useful life and has been plagued with weather-related component failures this winter resulting in crowded trains and below normal on-time performance.
