NJ Transit and Coach USA will see a jump from $4 to $10 on all three Hudson River crossings. Officials say the increase is needed to cope with financial setbacks and complete multiple projects.

Overall ridership on its fixed-route services was up 3.1 percent in April, 8.7 percent in May and 8.3 percent in June from the corresponding months a year earlier. Night Ride service also experienced a 25 percent increase, or 1,022 boardings, from the previous year.

The increases in 2008 are continuing in 2009, with ridership up 7.6 percent over the same period a year ago for the week ending March 1.
