Minn. Metro cuts Northstar fares

Most weekday trips on the Northstar Commuter Rail will cost $1 less beginning Aug. 1. The initiative kicks off a promotional campaign to show commuters in the Northwest metropolitan area that now is the time to try Northstar.

The transit system spent more than $8.5 million on overtime in 2010. About 5% of the drivers averaged 50 to 70 hours of work per week.

Minn.'s Metro Transit rolls out city’s first BRT station

An event, to be held on Dec. 6, will promote the $4.5M station to nearby residents. Since ridership will not meet Metro Transit’s 2010 goal of 80 million riders, transit officials hope the new station draws more passengers.
