Metra starts next in-house railcar rehab program

The first round of the program, which began in 2010 and cost $115 million, renovated 176 railcars that were manufactured by Amerail (originally Morrison Knudson) and delivered to Metra between 1995 and 1998.

Nippon Sharyo opens first U.S. railcar factory

Sumitomo, Nippon Sharyo win N. Calif. contract

The estimated $57M contract for 18 DMUs includes options for Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit District and its partner agencies to purchase up to 146 cars. The delivery of 18 DMUs is scheduled from the end of 2013 through the middle of 2014.
