The fee, based on credit hours, will be assessed for all students, including those who take public transportation, but the college also has negotiated discounted student rates with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority to offset the fee.
The trustees considered making the fee mandatory for all students to force students to park in YSU lots for safety concerns, but the university does not have enough parking spaces to accommodate all the students.

The $20 parking fee for Kennesaw State University was expected to be approved at a recent Board of Regents meeting; however, final approval was made back in November by the university's Student Fee Committee.
