Through the partnership, which started in fall 2012, the manufacturers are working in a close, collaborative process to develop a customized, dedicated chassis for ARBOC’s highly anticipated Spirit of Liberty product line.

Involvement began in the 1980s as Featherlite Coaches and Marathon Coach led the way in providing track-side offices and living quarters for competitors, sponsors, suppliers and families who made the racetrack their home throughout the race season.

Under terms of the deal, purchasers can finance up to 100% of the cost of each bus, allowing them to spread their payments over time and provide for a capital cushion in an uncertain economic environment.

VIA Rail is providing 10 coach cars and two dome cars on the New York state-supported Adirondack service operating between Albany-Rensselaer and Montreal. This will allow some Amtrak equipment used on that route to be reassigned, adding about 300 seats to trains operating on the Northeast Corridor.

Groupon will purchase a total of 250,000 3-Day passes for $1.882 million. Each pass will be sold for $7.53 wholesale and offered to Groupon members for $9 instead of $14, the current price of a 3-Day pass.

Cubic will contribute $500,000 over five years to the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering to fund research done by faculty, students and Cubic Transportation Systems staff.

With applications for iPhone, Android and Blackberry, customers will be able to seamlessly purchase commuter rail tickets and passes. Once tickets are purchased, customers will be able to use and display directly via their phone screen.

Delivery is scheduled to begin in June 2012 and be completed in October 2012.

The company also announced it entered into an Amended and Restated Consulting and Brokerage Agreement with MV Sales & Leasing Inc. (MVSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MV Transportation Inc., pursuant to which MVSL will act as a non-exclusive consultant and broker of the MV-1.

The integration of their products will ultimately improve driver and passenger safety, mitigating risk and providing external vehicle assistance on transit, shuttle and school buses, according to both companies.
