The report, conducted by the New York economic consulting firm John Dunham and Associates, duplicates a study following Marketplace 2012 in Grapevine, Texas, with the $108.3 million figure representing a $30 million increase from 2012 to 2013

This was the first time the NTSB’s training has ever been offered to the motorcoach industry. The seven-hour session was sponsored by National Interstate Insurance Co.

More than 3,000 attendees are estimated to attend Marketplace 2015. Marketplace is the show where business gets done, generating nearly $80 million dollars for the delegates, suppliers and host city in 2012.

The 2010 census shows that the motorcoach industry continues to be a small business success story. More than 82% of industry operators own fewer than 10 vehicles.

In its letter to the U.S. DOT, ABA argues that Charlotte officials have not exhausted all efforts to find privately operated motorcoaches to provide charter service to meet the demands of the upcoming Democratic National Convention.

In recognition of Earth Day, the ABA put together its top five reasons that environmentally conscious and fiscally sensible travelers should take the motorcoach instead of planes, trains and personal automobiles. Group will partner with MCI for new award.

"While motorcoaches historically have been one of the safest forms of transportation, it is always a tragedy when accidents occur. In truth, fatal motorcoach accidents have been a rare occurrence over the past ten years, but one fatality is one too many."

The new ABAF "Driving The Future Award" scholarship is four times larger than each of the 19 current scholarships that award students $2,500 each academic year to pursue coursework to help them prepare for future positions of leadership throughout the motorcoach, tour and group travel industry.

At a time when national transportation infrastructure policy is up for revision and improvement, the 19-member coalition also believes policy makers must take a fresh look at transportation.
