Gov. Peter Shumlin and Quebec Premier Pauline Marois are working together to improve rail connections between Montreal and the U.S. border. Improvements could potentially shorten trips between Montreal and New York by one hour. Pre-clearance by customs remains a challenge.

Survey: Public transit users exercise more

The U.S. DOT’s National Household Travel Survey found that people who walked to public transit in large urban areas with a rail system were 72% more likely to transit walk 30 minutes or more per day than were those without a rail system.
