Calif. town residents start bus service for seniors, disabled

Shasta Senior Nutrition Programs debuted its new “44 Express” route. The idea for the service came from town residents, who said better transportation is needed for their area since the Redding Area Bus Authority doesn’t make trips there.

Caltrans awards $350M to state transit projects

Nearly 80 projects will upgrade transit service, purchase eco-friendly buses, modernize transit stations and create jobs throughout California. The grants are funded through transportation bond Proposition 1B.

Northern Calif. college to use student IDs for bus passes

Shasta College and the Redding Area Bus Authority plan to start a pilot program during the spring semester allowing students to use identification cards to ride the bus system for free.
