As L.A. rail expands, bus service to shrink

The latest overhaul will slash overall bus service by 12 percent and increase the number of passengers on individual buses. Nine routes are set to be eliminated in June and 11 more would be cut back.

Actions were required to implement the balanced budget passed by the agency's Board in December, which closed an approximately $1.2 billion deficit.
