MBTA fires operator in rail crash

Agency discovered that he had worked a graveyard shift at another job before coming to work on the morning of the crash. The operator was going to receive a safety award from the MBTA.

BART worker fired for giving teen free passes

Station agent Jim Stanek gave $300 in train passes with unused balances to a needy teenager. He thought the tickets were going to be discarded. The agency says the leftover balances go toward BART’s general fund.
