Project development, most of the manufacturing as well as the certification, will be done in Savigliano Alstom’s site in Cuneo. The plant in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan) will be responsible for the design and manufacturing of the traction systems and auxiliary switchers. Onboard signaling systems will be delivered by the Bologna site.

The Frecciarossa 1000 is the newest member of Bombardier’s Zefiro family of high-speed trains, known as the V300Zefiro model. The train offers high acceleration that ensures excellent traveling times even on winding routes.

With this contract, Trenitalia has placed orders for a total of 688 E464 locomotives, 570 of which are already in successful commercial service. Delivery of the locomotives is scheduled for between 2012 and 2013.

Worth approximately $383 million, the order supplies 100 E464 electric locomotives, with an option for an additional 50 locomotives.

Will provide the diagnostic, monitoring, assistance and on-site maintenance of the onboard ERTMS level 2 equipments for 31 Trenitalia trains. Plans to provide electrification for Granada, Spain’s tramway system.

The new system will allow Trenitalia, which serves more than one million passengers per day, to increase the safety of train operations, while enabling higher traffic density through greater speed.
