Metro-North completes fed-mandated signal system changes

With the announced completion of work at the Devon Bridge in Stratford, Conn., last Thursday all the signal modifications ordered by the FRA in December are now complete, well before the Sept. 1, 2014 deadline.

FRA to fund $745M in Northeast Corridor upgrades

Will update electrical systems and tracks between Trenton, N.J. and New York City, resulting in improved on-time performance and reliability and will add routes that allow Amtrak trains to bypass the busiest passenger rail junction in the nation. The improvements will allow for the fastest passenger train speeds attained in North America to date.

Canadian Government, VIA complete rail upgrades

Upgrades so far on VIA’s network include a $12.5 million investment in the Alexandria Subdivision, between Ottawa and Montreal as well as similar improvements currently underway on the Smiths Falls Subdivision between Toronto and Ottawa.
