First Transit to unify bus operations for Valley Metro

Mesa and Tempe will be under a single contract with Valley Metro directly managing bus operations in the East Valley. Awarded an initial three-year base term at a cost of $150,885,082 with options available for years four through ten at a cost of $407,764,469. The contract takes effect July 1, 2013.

The 3.2 mile extension is another significant step in the development of a regional transportation network in the Valley. Expansion of light rail is also under way in Central Mesa and is expected to be complete in 2015.

Will fund Valley Metro’s 3.1-mile light rail extension into downtown Mesa. The expansion, which should begin service in late 2015, is anticipated to serve nearly 10,000 daily riders.

Valley Metro accelerates light rail extension by 7 years

Will re-launch the 3.2-mile Northwest extension. The project has received approval to accelerate the completion year from 2023 to 2016. Final design is under way; construction will begin in early 2013.
