Stephen R. Banta was recognized for his contribution to advancing female and minority leadership at the agency.

Deputy Federal Railroad Administrator Karen Rae was selected by the Women’s Transportation Seminar for her 35 years of knowledge and expertise, and her decades of leadership building transit and passenger rail systems across the country.

The joint initiative will kick off at the Women’s Transportation Seminar annual awards dinner on May 18 in San Francisco. It will introduce girls ages 13 to 18 to a variety of transportation careers through hands‐on interactive activities and mentoring programs.

Dave Boggs was named the 2010 Womens’ Transportation Seminar Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter Member of the Year at the annual awards and scholarship ceremony. For more than nine years, Boggs has supported the chapter and participated in the mentorship program.

Marcia Ferranto also serves as President and CEO of WTS International. She will now manage the functions of the WTS Foundation in addition to WTS International, which she has led since February 2010.

Will support the advancement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through a strategic partnership between the U.S. DOT and the Women’s Transportation Seminar International.

Will replace WTS Scholarship as the 501(c)(3) organization supporting WTS in its endeavors to advance women in transportation through contributions that invest in scholarships to women seeking transportation-related graduate and undergraduate degrees.

Annual award honors “a woman who is an outstanding role model and has contributed to the advancement of women and minorities in transportation.”
