The new video series, Bus Buzz!, kicks off with its first episode featuring the agency’s 2011 Driver of the Year Vance Wegner sharing tips with riders that will help them avoid being passed by the bus.

“Boston Under: After Hours,” a 44-minute film available on YouTube, follows the agency’s night crew through its shift, as workers deal with the challenges and dangers of the job.

Will look into an incident, filmed by a bystander and posted on YouTube, of two officers who appear to have tackled a man in a wheelchair, sending him to the hospital with a head wound.

The new national competition will showcase innovative ways that local communities use smart transportation technology to improve safety, mobility and the environment. Submissions are being sought through June 30 from state and local governments, transit agencies, private firms and students.

Channel will feature videos with information on safety and security; the Trails & Rails program; the Amtrak vision for high-speed rail; travel tips; and exclusive contests and promotions. Will also install its free Wi-Fi service, AmtrakConnect, on Northeast Corridor and more West Coast trains by the end of this year.

Will use the Twitter account to communicate with those interested in its investigative work and advocacy programs to enhance transportation safety. The YouTube channel will be a one-stop resource where the NTSB's advocacy video messages, transportation accident animations and other video products can be accessed.

The series features people from across the country who have been injured or lost loved ones in distracted driving crashes. In 2009, nearly 5,500 people died and 500,000 were injured in accidents involving a distracted driver.

The online campaign, produced entirely in-house, was launched June 16, 90 days prior to the opening of the Green Line, and is scheduled to run through the completion of the Green Line in December 2010.
